Brass Kettle of the 17th Missouri Infantry Volunteers (Union)

This brass kettle could have been used by a company cook to prepare beans or soup, or to boil potatoes or salt pork to feed soldiers. It is associated with the 17th Missouri Infantry Volunteers (Union), a predominantly German regiment popularly known as the Western Turner Rifles.
