Grand Procession of Wide-Awakes at New York on the Evening of October 3, 1860

Jane Magill described a demonstration similar to this one, shown in New York City, at a political barbecue held in Florissant for Missouri Congressional candidates: “A torch-light procession by a political club from St. Louis Called the Wide-a-Wakes…numbered 360, they had a band of music…they formed just opposite Benton house, [and] paraded down Main St.”
