Sergeant George Dean

George Dean enlisted with the 1st Missouri Colored Infantry, which was redesignated the 62nd U.S. Colored Troops. He signed up in December 1863—in Pilot Knob—and was mustered into service at Benton Barracks in St. Louis. He served until well after the war ended, and was discharged in Brownville, Texas, in March 1866.
